Description: These aluminium wheelchair ramps are specifically designed for wheelchair users to provide easy access to buildings, shops, offices and transport. The ramps are constructed from leightweight aluminium, and are rated at an axle load capacity of 250kg per pair which covers most applications for electrical or manual wheelchairs. Each ramp is 150mm wide with 50mm side curbs. These wheelchair ramps are available in 3 standard lengths to cover height differences up to 1000mm at an angle of 20 degress. All of these wheelchair ramp models have a carrying handle incorporated. Available as non-folding ramp for use in locations where a fixed ramp is impractical.

As a general guide for portable ramps the current EEC directive for industrial rampage suggests a raise of 1 in 8 (this requirement has been adapted for wheelchair users).
So what you have to do is measure the height of the step you need to get up/down to and multiply this figure by 8 to get the APPROVED ramp lenght required. If you feel the gradient could be slightly steeper than 1 in 8 and the ramp therefore less long it's down to you.
When choosing a ramp, the length and therefore the angle of the ramp, depends on:
the height to be raised
the type of wheelchair or vehicle
the weight of the chair/vehicle with or without the user sitting on it
the strenght of the helper or user
